The Walk
with purpose driven lawyers

About The Walk
I am loving this profession every minute.
At 25, I was at the frontier — advising groundbreaking IPOs and banking deals in China.
At 27, I co-founded a pioneering Shanghai law firm — now one of China’s most respected.
At 32, I startd to work on my JD and LLM at Columbia — and practiced on Wall Street.
At 37, back in Shanghai, I built a cross-border IPO and M&A practice from the ground up.
At 47, in Silicon Valley, I ventured into a new practice, starting over with a small office.
At 58, in Seattle, I planted my Washington office, and let it take root.
I have practiced in Red Circle firms and white-shoe firms, in big offices and small ones. I have advised on landmark deals and won national and international awards. I have served Fortune 100 companies and startups, local clients and multinationals….
But I was lost, bitter, angry and burned out. I was feeling wasted, in exile. I wanted to quit.
I have been there. I have felt the pain.
You don’t have to walk alone.
You will find the strength and wisdom already in you.
If you allow — I will walk the Walk with you.
Our Services

Walking Successful Lawyers Toward Purpose
Are you an ambitious lawyer who, after years of hard-won success, finds yourself wondering where you are — and where you should go next?
Do you feel tired, empty, or quietly losing hope — and wonder whether you even want to stay in this profession?
Are you in a new market, looking around and wondering where to begin?
Together, we explore. We find your strengths, your niche, and your next direction — so you can carry your journey forward with vision, passion, and determination. This is a focused engagement: three months, or six, depending on where you are and how far you want to go.

Walking with Small and Mid-Size Law Firms
Some lawyers are better off practicing alone; some thrive in teams. Some firms perform best with a lockstep system; others flourish on pure merit. There is no single right answer — but there is a right answer for your firm.
Together with you, your partners, and the key people who shape your firm’s direction, we map the path forward — whether that means strengthening your internal culture, sharpening your practice focus, or taking your firm across borders.
The goal is not just growth. It is growth with intention, preparation and anticipation.

Walking Lawyers into the U.S. Market
I am the managing partner of my firm in China, leading a team of dozens of lawyers. Now I am in the U.S. — where do I begin?
I just passed the California bar. I am a successful lawyer in China. But what should I actually expect when I start practicing here?
These are the questions I was asking more than twenty years ago — and I found the answers the hard way, step by step.
The U.S. legal market is different. What made you exceptional in China will still matter — but it will not be enough on its own.
You are not starting from zero. You are starting from a different place — with strengths you may not yet see, and blind spots you may not yet know. That is exactly where I can help.
I will walk you through this journey.
